There is a huge increase in tourists this year in Armenia’s Dilijan city. There are no available rooms in the thirty holiday homes and health resorts operating here, Diljan’s Mayor Armen Santrosyan said during a press conference on Tuesday. 

“In the case when we hosted 15,000 vacationers in Dilijan throughout last year, we already have hosted 15 thousand so far this year,” he said.

Tourists have visited Dilijan from numerous countries, but the majority of those from abroad are Diaspora Armenians. 

In the Mayor’s words, the renewal of the city’s main highway has contributed to tourism development in Dilijan, and the private sector has carried out considerable investments, too. 

The city’s key problem has been landslides, but, as per Armen Santrosyan, activities are underway to address this matter as well.

The Mayor also assured that no trees were cut down and Dilijan’s forests are under special supervision.

 Armen Santrosyan also informed that virtually no one from Dilijan has left to work abroad, and, by the Government’s new decision, no casinos will be constructed in the city.
