YEREVAN. – The Human Rights 96 Party, which is part of the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC), is proposing the Congress to nominate ANC MP Nikol Pashinyan as candidate in next year’s presidential elections. 

“The nomination of a presidential candidate who can and has the ethical right to become Armenia’s President could awaken a hope toward holding a legitimate election in our country. [And] As such [candidate] we see Nikol Pashinyan and [hereby] present his candidacy to the ANC Political Board, to nominate [him] as Armenian Presidential candidate.    

At the same time we call upon the First President [and ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan] to treat Pashinyan’s candidacy with understanding and to support his nomination to the utmost,” the Human Rights 96 Party’s respective statement reads.
