BEIRUT. – The news, according to which an Armenian child was injured in Friday’s car bomb explosion in Beirut, has not been confirmed.

No information is received with respect to the death or injury of an Armenian child, Editor-in-Chief Shahan Kandaharian of Lebanon’s Aztag Armenian daily told Armenian News-NEWS.am. At the same time, however, he confirmed the news about the death of an Armenian woman. “The name of Georgetta Sarkissian is indicated in the list of the dead,” Kandaharian noted.      

In his words, there is currently a tense situation in Beirut. “Today [Saturday] is a day of mourning, but I believe an official announcement will be made either tomorrow or the next day,” Shahan Kandaharian said.
