YEREVAN. – Armenia has already exported around 20,000 tons of potatoes this year, Agriculture Deputy Minister said.
During the Thursday press conference, Garnik Petrosyan said 7,500 tons of potatoes was exported to Russia, 5,000 – to Georgia. Large batches were exported to Iran, Iraq and Turkmenistan.
The Deputy Minister assured that the issue of phytosanitary control in Georgia has been solved, and the export continues without any obstacles.
“We have agreed on holding independent laboratory tests in the future,” he added.
To remind, in early November, Georgia returned 50 tons of potatoes back to Armenia. In this connection, Nikoyan informed that he and his associates had visited Georgia and found out that the potato samples that were sent for laboratory tests had not belonged to the patch which Armenia had exported to Georgia.
