The press service of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) told NEWS. am that Armenian insurance companies’ assets have registered an increase of 12.5% in the 2nd quarter of 21009 and reached 13.9bln AMD. Insurance companies’ liabilities totaled 4.6bln AMD (an increase of 26.9%), and capital 9.3bln AMD (an increase of 6.5%). The Armenian insurance companies’ insurance premiums registered a 6.2% decrease in the first half of 2009 as compared with the corresponding period last year.

The CBA reports smaller-scale credit insurance: automobile insurance, property insurance, accident insurance. However, insurance companies did not sustain large investment losses as it is bank deposits and government bonds that are the main source of investments for Armenian insurance companies.
