Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu also spoke of the Turkish-Armenian relations, emphasizing, that the G8 Ministers referred to the efforts toward improving the Armenian-Turkish relations as positive.

Speaking at a G8 meeting in Trieste, Italy, the Turkish Foreign Minister stated that currently a “positive psychological atmosphere rules in the Middle East, which however should be turned into concrete steps,” he stated.

Davutoglu said he also met Senator George Mitchell, the U.S. special envoy for the Middle East, on the sidelines of the Trieste meeting. “The fate of this region is crucial for us and the region should not experience new wars and losses,” he noted.
