YEREVAN. – According to the results in 2016, the number of passengers that depart from Armenia will not exceed that of arrivals in the country, for the first time in many years.

Head of the Armenian Government-Affiliated General Department of Civil Aviation, Sergey Avetisyan, stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Tuesday.

In his words, this year the flow of passengers in Armenia will pass 2 million, whereas their departure-arrival ratio will virtually even out.  

The last time when such an indicator was recorded was in 1990, when Armenia was still a part of the ex-Soviet Union.

Following the hostilities in April—and which Azerbaijan had unleashed, passenger inflow to Armenia had reduced by 15 percent. Subsequently, however, it began to grow by 10 percent per month.
