YEREVAN. – The opposition Haykakan Veratsnund (Armenian Renaissance) Party of Armenia has no trepidations from other political unions.

Head of the National Assembly (NA) “Orinats Yerkir” (Rule of Law) Faction, Heghine Bisharyan, told about the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am, reflecting on the newly formed opposition alliances.

“We, as a political unit, have participated in all electoral processes, and we have always succeeded and entered the parliament,” added Bisharyan.

There are views that the alliances, which are forming in the anti-government camp of Armenia, can cause major “damage” to political forces such as the Rule of Law Party—recently renamed Armenian Renaissance, which have barely passed the threshold to enter the NA, in recent years.

“We have our stable electorate, irrespective of political ups and downs, ‘storms,” stressed the MP. “The ‘birth’ of no one will hinder our work.”

And when asked whether any political force has proposed Armenian Renaissance to jointly run in parliamentary elections, Heghine Bisharyan responded: “It would be a lie for me to say there is none. [But] we always ran [in elections] alone. We favor running alone because life has shown that [political] alliances have a very short lifespan, and [therefore] we don’t want to find ourselves in this situation.”
