We never said that the prices for airline tickets in the Yerevan airport “Zvartnots” are very low but we assure that they are competitive if compared  with the prices in the region.   

Head of the General Department of Civil Aviation, Sergey Avetisyan, told the aforementioned to journalists after the Government session on Thursday.

In his words, in many cases the prices for airline tickets in Zvartmots airport are much lower than those in Georgia and other neighboring countries.

“Why do our compatriots continue flying via Tbilisi? Specific factors, which our country lacks, impact the Georgian aviation market. Yes, certain European destinations, mainly using Istanbul as a transit point, concede in terms of the level of presence in our market.  But the answer to the question as to why the Turkish airlines are not very active in Armenia is apparent to all of us,” Avetisyan noted.

99 percent of potential flights to Europe with the participation of our compatriots are carried out by the Turkish budget airline company “Pegasus,” he added.
