With an Armenian court decision, Henrik Aghekyan, 64, who had crossed the national border of Armenia and found himself in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic—an exclave of Azerbaijan—in August 2016, has been sent to compulsory treatment.

The court considered confirmed the fact that Aghekyan has serious problems related to mental health, and therefore it ruled that he shall continue his treatment at a psychiatric hospital.

According to the indictment, between August 5 and August 6 of last year at 8:30am, Henrik Aghekyan left his home in Aygepat village in Ararat Province of Armenia under unknown circumstances, crossed the state border of Armenia without respective documentation and authorization, and entered into Nakhchivan. Aghekyan has been charged with crossing the state border of Armenia without required documents, or proper authorization.

But there were rumors at the time that Aghekyan had mental disorders, and he often went missing from home.
