YEREVAN. – The Armenian officials include only property within the country in their declarations of income, opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan said during the first day of parliament’s session on Monday.

Pashinyan presented a draft decision to establish and ad-hoc committee that will study the illicit enrichment of public officials.

The MP believes the former officials have to be in the spotlight, too. However, according to him, the first step is to check the persons who held office after 2008.

“It is worth noting that the MPs register only property within the country. Whatever they may have abroad, including in the offshore areas, it remains in the shadows. The assessment is in the focus of international organizations. Thus, according to the Global Financial Integrity, 9.8 billion dollars was taken from Armenia in 2004-12, an amount  equal to Armenia’s 4-year budget,” Pashinyan said.
