YEREVAN. - Switzerland wouldn’t mind if certain elements of Swiss army model were introduced in the Armenian army.

Swiss Ambassador to Armenia Lukas Gasser said the aforementioned at the meeting with journalists on Friday.

Asked whether the model of the Swiss army, which is considered the most secure one in the region, could be introduced in Armenia, where attempt is made to introduce nation-army, Gasser noted that the Swiss army achieved that throughout ages. This is a Swiss institution, whose aim is to maintain neutrality, he added.

The Ambassador noted that he is not the one to judge on whether Armenia can repeat this model or not, but he wouldn’t mind if certain elements thereof, such as human rights, honesty, etc., were borrowed. In Gasser’s words, Switzerland already cooperates with Armenia in this direction: a program is implemented within the framework of which Switzerland cooperates with the Armenian armed forces.
