Egypt's highest appeals court acquitted the former President Hosni Mubarak, who was accused of demonstrators’ murder during 2011 protests, reports BBC.

The hearings of the case continued on March 2. The judge came to the conclusion, that the former president, who until then had been sentenced to life imprisonment, was not guilty.

The court also rejected the petition of the victims' relatives, who requested to resume the civil lawsuit against Mubarak. The court ruling is final and is not subject to an appeal.
