Some people were killed and more than 50 were injured after a huge fire engulfed a 27-story Grenfell Tower in north Kensington, central London on Wednesday.

London Ambulance Service said that the injured people had been taken to hospital, Reuters reported.

London Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton said there had been "a number of fatalities" but she could not say how many.

Massive flames licked up the sides of the block as 200 firefighters battled the blaze for hours along with 40 fire engines.
