YEREVAN. – Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan on Tuesday met—within the framework of his visit to the United Arab Emirates—with Secretary-General Rebeca Greenspan of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the government of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
In particular, the cooperation in economic diversification, human capital, and sustainable economic development was highly assessed during the conversation, and the peculiarities of the post-Covid situation were discussed—emphasizing the need for respective solutions tailored to the needs of landlocked countries such as Armenia.
The parties touched also upon the possibility of cooperation in digitalization, as well as in investment support. In this connection, the UNCTAD chief expressed readiness to assist Armenia’s private sector in assessing its readiness for digitalization and developing a corresponding roadmap.
In addition, an agreement was reached to continue the discussions on a working basis in order to develop concrete initiatives in investment support.
Also, Deputy Prime Minister Matevosyan reaffirmed—on behalf of the Armenian government—the commitment to promote the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
