Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took part in the opening ceremony of the newly rebuilt section of the Argavand-Shirak road on Saturday.

Deputy Prime Minister Hambartsum Matevosyan, Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan, Deputy Head of the Asian Development Bank Shixin Chen and other officials also participated in the ceremony, Armenian News-NEWS.am was told by the press service of the government of the republic.

On July 16, 2019, an agreement on the construction of this section of the road was signed between the Yerevan Municipality and Levantina Engineering Costrucción (Spain). The cost of the contract is $26 million, construction began in September 2019.

The section of the Argavand-Shirak road is part of the western ring road of Yerevan, and also connects the administrative districts of Malatia-Sebastia and Shengavit of the capital.

The road is 2.7 km long and 26 m wide. It also includes a metal bridge on the Hrazdan River 252 m long and 28 m wide, as well as one overpass - a road junction at the intersection of Isakov and Babajanyan streets. Energy-saving LED lamps are installed for external lighting.

As part of the construction of the Argavand-Shirak highway, 26 households were provided with compensation in the amount of 265 million drams.
