At around 5:30pm on Tuesday, a car driven by Yerevan resident Arman Sargsyan, 25, hit Manana Aslamazyan, 70, a pedestrian who was jaywalking across a downtown Yerevan street.
Aslamazyan, who later dies, was the former General Director of Internews.
A criminal proceeding has been launched to find out the circumstances of this fatal road accident, the Investigative Committee of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.
As per Investigative Committee, according to preliminary data, at around 5:30pm on Tuesday, a car driven by a 25-year-old man hit a pedestrian in the aforementioned place. The pedestrian sustained an injury, was taken to a hospital, and she died there without regaining consciousness.
The aforementioned driver, who was driving the car without having a valid driver's license, was detained on the same day.
An investigation is in progress.
