VAYK. – Vayk city hospital doctor Metaksya Hovhannisyan, who, according to the “We Will not Keep Silence” initiative ordered the woman from Gndevaz village to wait while she would wash her linen, and then will come to assist the delivery of the baby, currently is on leave and waits for the decision of the committee and the results of the autopsy, the doctor told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

She explained that she took the leave to overcome the heavy stress. The father of the dead baby, who, according to the doctor suffers from alcoholism, made her reputation notorious all over the state in a day. So, she needs time to come out of the stress. 

The doctor disapproved information that the father of the baby beat her. However, she is worried about her security.

Hovhannisyan also added that she does not admit her guilt. She assisted in delivering a healthy baby, and gave it to the nurse. She said that the baby was born with difficulties but it was alive. She also disapproved the rumor that she told the relatives as if the baby was born without lungs. According to her, no criminal case was instigated, unless the results of the committee and the autopsy are ready. Apparently the doctor is unaware that the criminal case has already been instigated for implementing responsibilities improperly and the prosecutor general has released the statement.

As it was reported earlier, the baby was delivered with difficulties because of the fault of the chief doctor. The newborn was later moved to Yerevan. However, the baby died there. The difficulties caused danger for the life of the baby. Currently her activity is suspended. The Armenian Ministry of Healthcare conducts inspection in Vayk hospital.
