YEREVAN. – As a result of a heart attack, well-known arms dealer Sarkis Soghanalian died in Miami, Florida, on October 6, at the age of 82, Azg daily writes. “His life, which contains rich material for modern-day ‘thrillers,’ was full of adventure. He was known as one of the greatest arms dealers of the [20th] century. He was the main supplier of weapons to Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq War of the 1980s. He operated an entire fleet of cargo planes, and he owned houses in dozens of countries.

He also worked at the Central Investigation Department [CID] and the Federal Bureau of Investigations [FBI]. Sarkis Soghanalian was born in Iskenderun [Turkey] in 1929. After his father’s death, his family moved to Beirut, where, leaving his studies, started to work. According to his son, Soghanalian was bankrupt in recent years,” Azg writes.
