YEREVAN. - Armenia’s Deputy PM and Regional Governance Minister Armen Gevorgyan on Friday received Michael Steiner from the US Department of Agriculture, and Thomas Bi, EU’s “Assistance to Armenian National Statistical Service” TWINNING Project’s permanent consultant. They discussed the possibilities for conducting a widespread agricultural accounting in Armenia, Regional Governance Ministry Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The UN proposes the conduct of this accounting every ten years.
The guests suggested to holding of such project in Armenia in a foreseeable future, and by using the resources of past October’s census conducted in the country.
Underscoring this accounting, Armen Gevorgyan expressed readiness to discuss, with corresponding agencies, the organization and holding of this project. He also proposed the carrying out of informational campaigns, to present the significance and importance of this accounting.
The guests welcomed this idea and noted that the UN and EU alike would be ready to cooperate in this matter.
