YEREVAN. – The Golden Ore Company is preparing to operate an open-pit mine nearby Armenia’s Hankavan village, in the Kotayk Region, Azg daily writes.

“The mine is located a mere 500 meters away from the village and 37 kilometers, from Hrazdan city. According to data, the mine will occupy a 10-km2 area.

Aside from molybdenum and chalcopyrite, the mine also contains several non-industrial metals and [mineral] combinations.

In the meantime, there are numerous problems. First, the place is very close to a settlement area, and, also, the Government already intends to operate two mines in the Hrazdan area. In addition, thousands of trees will be cut down, and the pastures, agricultural land, and water will be polluted,” Azg writes.
