In the San Francisco Bay Area, Piedmont, a suburb east of Oakland, in the US state of California, early Wednesday morning local time, an accident involving a Tesla Cybertruck model killed three people and seriously injured another, according to NBC News.

The vehicle was still on fire when rescuers arrived on the scene, Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Bowers said at a press conference.

Police officers tried to tackle the flames, “but the fire was too intense for the fire extinguishers to be effective,” he said. The Piedmont Fire Department then arrived and put out the fire.

NBC Bay Area television station NBC Bay Area reported that all four people in the vehicle were returning home from college for a vacation. Flowers were left at the scene. According to Bowers, a nearby motorist who saw the burning vehicle was able to get to it and rescue the injured man.
