YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree Tuesday on forming the makeup of the Ethics Commission of Senior Officials, after which the Commission’s inaugural session was convened Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun daily writes.
“The Commission has five members. But the problem is that, as per Serzh Sargsyan, the Ethics Commission will deal with the declarations on senior officials’ property and incomes, will fight against corrupt practices, etc. That is, this commission will record that if, for example, an official living on salary has tens of millions worth property, ‘that is not nice,’ and it is against the code of ethics. By the way, the President’s staff will secure the technical service of the Commission. To put it in simpler terms, from now on the President’s staff will deal with the ‘skirmishes’ between senior officials, and will decide [who is] right and [who is] wrong,” Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun writes.
