On Nov. 27, Kurban Bayrami (Festival of Sacrifice) holiday is celebrated by Muslims worldwide. That day each Muslim must sacrifice his best domestic animal as a symbol of Ibrahim’s immolation.

The family of the man who made the sacrifice (kurban) eats one-third part of the meat, the second is granted to neighbors and the third – to the poor.

Muslims put on their finest clothing to attend the prayer in mosque, call on their friends and relatives, pray for the deceased and deal alms to the poor.

Distributing meat among people is considered an essential part of the festival during this period, as well as chanting out loudly before the prayer.

Kurban Bayrami (Eid al-Adha in Arabic) is always on the same day on Islamic lunar calendar and lasts 3-4 days.
