The statue of modern-day Turkey’s founder, Ataturk, which was bought by the Kusadasi City Hall of Turkey’s Aydin Province, was found in a storage, and this caused a huge uproar in the Province.

Turkey’s Güncel Gazetesi newspaper ran this news under the heading: “They threw Ataturk into the storage!” This matter was voiced when it became apparent that Ataturk’s statue was purchased without a tender and any information as to who had decided to buy the statue and at what price.

Kusadasi City Council member Behcet Alp criticized the Mayor for such decision, and asserted that it was meaningless to place an order for a statue in the case when it was unknown where it would be placed. He noted that Ataturk’s statue is in the storage for already seven months.
