During today’s question-and-answer session with government officials in parliament, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia Mesrop Arakelyan said nearly 1,000 servicemen have been classified into various categories of disability after the war in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The minister stated that the medical-social expert examination of servicemen wounded during the war in Nagorno-Karabakh is currently in the final stage and that there is already an initial picture of the situation. Based on the expert examination, nearly 500 citizens (1st and 2nd disability group) received serious injuries, and out of those 500 citizens, 150 are in the first disability category.

“About 120 servicemen are in need of prosthetics, nearly 500 received insignificant injuries and will be classified or have already been classified into the third category of disability,” Arakelyan said, adding that citizens will receive prostheses in groups and depending on the type of amputation in the near future.
