YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan on Friday paid a visit to capital city Yerevan’s Shengavit Medical Center, where Syrian-Armenian couple Berdj and Aline Salipian’s baby boy Krist was born on Thursday.

Newly-born Krist Salipian is the first Syrian-Armenian baby who is born in Armenia—and as a citizen of Armenia—ever since the start of the domestic political turmoil in Syria.    

The Salipian family arrived in Armenia around one month ago. The mother is under the supervision of doctors, and she received a state childbirth assistance certificate and all the privileges which Armenia’s Government has granted to Syrian-Armenians, Diaspora Ministry press service informs.      

Minister Hakobyan congratulated the young mother, wished good health to the newborn, and expressed a hope that Krist would become a worthy citizen and soldier of Armenia, and lead a secure and peaceful life. The Minister also assured that the Diaspora Ministry will continue to care for this family, and, should the Salipian family decide to settle in Armenia, the Ministry will assist the young father in finding a job.
