YEREVAN. – As compared with the previous years, a greater amount of money is envisioned in 2013 to pay off Armenia’s foreign debt, National Assembly’s Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs Committee Chairman Gagik Minasyan said during a press conference on Tuesday.
He informed that the country’s foreign state debt will constitute $3.8 billion by the year’s end and $4 billion by the end of 2013. But factoring in the GDP growth, next year’s foreign state debt will remain around 37 percent of the GDP, and, as per Minasyan, such level of debt is not considered to be risky.
A total of $200 million will be allocated in 2013 to pay off foreign debt, and this likewise is a very high level as compared with the years past. In Gagik Minasyan’s words, however, the paying of the debts will not undermine any budget program.
