February 10, Georgia and Azerbaijan signed an agreement on joint struggle against customs crimes in 2010-2011.

The document stipulates for the information exchange on customs’ violations, as well as elaboration and conduction of joint effective measures for their suppression. The sides underlined that agreement will improve coordination on Armenian-Georgian border, meanwhile smoothing things down for importers and exporters.

According to Georgian Deputy Finance Minister Irakli Siradze, it is not the first cooperation agreement of Georgia with neighboring states. In his turn, Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijani State Customs Committee Asker Abdullayev added that joint activities will enable to solve many issues. “We put an emphasis on combating drug trafficking, as we’ve already terminated traffic of 320 kg drugs from Azerbaijan to Georgia intended for Europe,” Abdullayev said.
