YEREVAN.- In parallel with reduction in total number of crimes registered in Armenia, the number of particular crimes has grown, Deputy Prosecutor General Mnatsakan Sargsyan said, addressing a meeting of prosecutors on Tuesday.
Armenia registered only 15,776 crimes in 2012 – 796 less than in 2011. At the same time, the number of crimes against the person has increased (4,536 as compared to 3,499).
The number of cases of intentional damage to health (1,640 – 1,359), offenses against sexual integrity (105 - 71), rape and attempted rape (19-15) has increased., too. At the same time the number of murders (50-60) and attempted murder (25-29) has reduced.
During this period, increase in crime detection has been registered (96.2%).
