YEREVAN. – The rating of presidential candidate, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan—who is discharged from hospital after being treated for a gunshot wound after a recent assassination attempt—has dropped considerably, in connection with his not making up his mind with respect to whether or not petitioning to the Constitutional Court for a postponement of the presidential election that will be held on February 18, as slated. Political technologist Karen Kocharyan stated this during a press conference on Wednesday.
As for the ruling Republican Party presidential candidate, serving President Serzh Sargsyan’s controversial statements that are greatly discussed during the campaign season, Kocharyan pointed to three variants in this respect. First, these statements could be unintentional. Second, this is done to drop his rating. And third, by making such faux pas, Sargsyan is attempting to invite public attention to the election so it may become interesting.
“He knows the value of words. I think there is something to behold here. Such thing cannot occur ever day,” Karen Kocharyan maintained.
