Irrespective of the powers that be, the citizens of Armenia should have a right for direct tools of democracy. Presidential candidate, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan stated this Wednesday during his talk with the voters in Gyumri city.

“In the case of a necessary number of signatures, it should be possible to hold a referendum on a matter, but the sole condition being that the issue at hand should not be unconstitutional,” the presidential contender noted.

In his words, if he is elected president, and following the constitutional reforms—which will be introduced in maximum two years—, the country’s parliament will be dissolved.

“The National Assembly of Armenia should become the most representational lawmaking body in the world. Following the parliamentary election, I, as president, likewise will resign from office, solely the PM’s and the deputy PM’s offices will remain, and we will have a bureaucracy-free state,” Hayrikyan stated.

In his conviction, it should be seen to it that the people of Armenia become the masters of the situation.
