This April Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili will meet with U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington, Georgia Online reports referring to American sources.

Saakashvili has never arrived in Washington since Obama’s election. Back in 2009, amid officials from Georgia only opposition leader Iralki Alasania attended the U.S. president’s inauguration.

Besides, according to the source, Georgian president will hold meetings with U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton and other officials.

Meanwhile, Russian media say accord on Saakashvili’s visit was reached through efforts of lobbying firm Podesta Group (PG), paid $300.000 by Georgian authorities.

In accordance with contract PG undertakes to render lobbying services, liaisons with governmental agencies and PR, including arrangement of meetings with U.S. congressmen and officers with Georgian leadership. The contract expires on June 30 with possible extension to another 6 months, Kommersant reads.
