The nationalist press in Turkey is quite concerned with the reaction by Garo Paylan, Istanbul-Armenian MP of the pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) of Turkey, to the arrest of the co-chairs and several MPs of his party.

A number of Turkish nationalist websites have targeted Paylan for drawing a parallel between these arrests and what had occurred in 1915, and they called this comparison, “dirty.”

“The year we are living in is 1915, the day is April 24! We will not allow these fascists to burn our country, our youth again! Neither inside nor outside! We will never surrender!” Paylan had tweeted in connection with the arrest of several HDP members.
