YEREVAN. - The criminal case launched in November 2015 into the death of a newborn in Yerevan’s Shengavit medical center has been dismissed because of the absence of components of crime in the actions of the medical staff.  

The press-service of the Investigative Committee of Armenia informed the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

According to the information of the Investigative Committee, on 28 November 2015 they received a statement from citizen I. Hayrapetyan on that her daughter-in-law was taken to Shengavit Medical Center on November 25, where she gave birth to a boy by a Caesarian section. However, the newborn died on November 27. According to the claimant, the tragedy took place as a result of the improper level of medical service provided by doctors.

A criminal case was launched into the incident under Article 130 (2) of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The baby was recognized as an aggrieved party, his mother being recognized as his successor. Investigative measures were carried out and expert examinations were commissioned in the framework of the case.

According to the results of the expert examination, the baby was diagnosed with cardiac anomaly and critical aortic stenosis.

As per the experts, the doctors provided all the services in due time, no violations having been revealed. The criminal case has thus been dismissed.
