YEREVAN. – Nanul Karakhanyan, 65, who lives in Nork Nursing Home in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, is this nursing home’s sole resident to be able to use computers and visit social networking sites. 

She had collected money and bought a computer, to communicate with her relatives living in Georgia. 

At first, the elderly woman had a computer addiction. But now, she has to spend less time with her “close friend,” due to her vision-related issues. 
Now, Ms. Nanul spends most of her time with her husband Khoren Karakhanyan, 70, who likewise resides with her in this nursing home. The elderly couple is happy that they live together.

Prior to moving to a nursing home, Nanul and Khoren Karakhanyan—who are married for 45 years—lived in Yerevan; but they have no children.  
Mr. Khoren was a carpenter. But he had damaged his eyes while working, and lost his eyesight. 

They sold their sole property, their home, for Mr. Khoren’s eye surgery. As a result of this operation, however, the vision in only one of his eye was restored by 40 percent. 

The elderly man received a disability status, and moved to the aforesaid nursing home. But his wife joined him at this nursing home only after several years, since her age and state of health were incompatible with being admitted to the nursing home.  

Three years ago, however, Ms. Nanul started working at this nursing home; and one year after that, she retired, and also became a resident of this nursing home.
