Armenia managed to adapt to the conditions, which came about after the fall of the USSR, but its leadership chose the path of convergence with Russia.

Armenian Ambassador to Mexico, Ara Ayvazyan, stated the aforementioned in an interview with Notimex Mexican agency, RIA Novosti reports.

“We have a strategic alliance with the Russian Federation: it is our key economic partner, and we are part of the Eurasian Economic Union, but at the same time we have strategic partnership relations with US, as well as very fruitful and useful cooperation with the EU. Thus, we are trying to compound various interests in our region,” Ayvazyan stated.

In his words, Armenia is a very important geopolitical and strategic zone, where the interests of many global powers have traditionally conflicted. Now the country’s authorities follow the principle of inadmissibility of the logics of dividing the world into two feuding camps, like in the times of the “Cold War,” he noted.

According to the Ambassador, Armenia was able to continue developing as a state exactly thanks to the good relations with Russia.
