Meeting of the joint task force of Russia, Turkey and Iran on Syrian ceasefire regime monitoring started in Astana, with experts from the United Nations and Jordan participating in the talks, RIA Novosti reported quoting an informed source.

Earlier, during the Astana negotiations on Syrian settlement which took place on January 23-24, guarantor states (Iran, Russia, Turkey) agreed on a trilateral mechanism to monitor a ceasefire regime in Syria. Details of the mechanism and its realization are planned to be discussed at the first meeting of task force in Astana on Monday.

Russian Defense Ministry stated earlier, that such meetings in Astana will be on regular basis. In turn, Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov said Friday that the meeting will be technical in nature.

The source also noted that the participants of a meeting intended to raise also the questions of humanitarian assistance and increase in mutual trust between the Syrian authorities and opposition.
