Scotland plans to agree the second independence referendum, first minister Nicola Sturgeon said.

Back in 2014 the majority of Scotland’s population voted against independence, but Scotland’s ruling party believes that the situation has changed dramatically after Brexit.

Sturgeon said the choice whether to leave UK or not should be offered “between the autumn of next year, 2018, and the spring of 2019”, The Guardian reported.

“The UK government is opposed to a second referendum but, crucially, has not committed itself to blocking it,” she added.

Sturgeon said that she would ask the Scottish parliament to vote to demand a section 30 order from Westminster (to allow the referendum to go ahead) next week.
