French photojournalist Mathias Depardon, who was waiting to be deported after being detained in Batman Province of Turkey, has been released.

During the NATO conference in Brussels, French President Emmanuel Macron had asked his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, about the situation of Depardon, who was waiting to be deported from Turkey for over two weeks, reported Diken news website of Turkey. And Erdoğan had promised to urgently look into the matter, whereupon the French photojournalist was released.

The French president went on Twitter and expressed satisfaction that Mathias Depardon was released and will be returning to France.
