YEREVAN. - No other country can supply to Azerbaijan the offensive arms, which Russia does.
Expert of the Armenian Center for Political and International Research, political scientist Ruben Mehrabyan, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am on Saturday.
According to the expert, this has to do with the fact that unlike Russia, no other country has such arms, or would like to supply them.
“This concerns tanks, and especially their number, as well as long-range equipment, such as Smerch, etc. Thus, with its actions Russia is violating the balance between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” the expert said.
According to Mehrabyan, this makes serious quantitative changes, since the arms supplied from other countries can be considered as offensive only conditionally. Apart from this, the expert noted that the quantity of the given arms cannot seriously influence the balance of forces between the parties to the conflict.
“Their number is too small. They can only diversify the management system, or influence the potential to some extent but cannot lead to qualitative changes,” the political scientist stressed.
