It is planned to carry out an agricultural census in Armenia next year. Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan stated this in the National Assembly (NA), at Monday’s joint session of NA standing committees, during the latter’s debates on the draft 2023 state budget of Armenia.

According to the minister's assessment, primary agricultural products ensure 11-13 percent of Armenia’s GDP. In general, the agro-industrial system accounts for about 25 percent of the country’s GDP.

"It is noteworthy that about 22 percent of employment in Armenia is in agriculture," Kerobyan said.

Also, the economy minister informed that in 2023, the gross agricultural output of the country is planned to increase to up to 1.2 trillion drams. Last year, as the Armenian official noted, it amounted to 933 billion drams.

"According to the government's 2021-2026 plan, the amount of gross agricultural output is planned to increase to up to 1.4 trillion drams," Kerobyan emphasized.
