YEREVAN. – The assessments made with respect to Armenia in the Global Economic Forum’s National Competitiveness Report are objective analyses, Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan stated during today’s governmental session. As per Sargsyan, first, the Report indicates the weak spots of Armenian economy and points out those precise criteria which need improvement.  

Tigran Sargsyan also expressed satisfaction that, in the 2011-2012 Report, Armenia registered a 6-point progress, adding that this progress would become more evident in next year’s report. According to Sargsyan, the reason is that Armenia had a high inflation rate in 2010 and, as a result, it dropped 15 points in the latest report. In 2011, however, the inflation dropped considerably and this will improve the assessment on Armenia’s macroeconomic condition.

In PM’s view, the government’s steps taken toward improving the business environment will also have an impact on next year’s report.
