YEREVAN. – Armenia will soon enjoy new border checkpoints with modern buildings and high level of service, and we have selected the Bagratashen, Bavra, and Gogavan border checkpoints for the first phase of this project, Armenian State Revenue Committee (SRC) Chairman Gagik Khachatryan said, SRC Press Service informed Armenian News.NEWS.am.

According to Khachatryan, the checkpoints will be equipped with latest technology, and modern procedures will be used for border-crossing. Reconstruction of the checkpoints is planned to be fully completed next year.

“The Bagratashen border checkpoint will occupy a 10-hectare area, and a new bridge will be built on Debed River. Four entry and exit lanes will be built each way in Bagratashen and Bavra, and thus 4-5 times more vehicles and passengers will be served on a daily basis. All 3 checkpoints will have special stops and terminals for vehicles. In addition, special squares are planned, in the Bagratashen and Bavra checkpoints, for helicopters. And in each area shelters will be allocated for 6 trained dogs. A fairly large building will be constructed in Bavra, in a 7.7-hectare area, and the customs control zone will be 800 meters closer to the Georgian checkpoint,” Gagik Khachatryan noted.
