VAYK. - Vayk city hospital doctor Metaksya Hovhannisyan canceled the press conference scheduled for Friday due to sharp health deterioration and depression, the doctor told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Hovhannisyan, who, according to the “We Will not Keep Silence” initiative ordered the woman from Gndevaz village to wait while she would wash her linen, and then will come to assist the delivery of the baby (while the medical intervention was essential and the baby died due to the lack of professional medical help), currently is on leave and waits for the decision of the committee and the results of the autopsy.

Asked whether she was in due health condition for a press conference the day before, when confirming her participation, Hovhannisyan said that her condition got worse at night.

Note that one of Yerevan press clubs organized a press conference for Vayk city hospital doctor Metaksya Hovhannisyan, however it has suspended for indefinite time.

Earlier Youth initiative “We Won’t Keep Silence” uploaded a video on death of the newborn at the maternity home of Vayk city.

Hovhannisyan, however, does not admit her guilt. She claims to have assisted in delivering a healthy baby, and gave it to the nurse. She said that the baby was born with difficulties but was alive. She also disapproved the rumor that she told the relatives as if the baby was born without lungs. According to her, no criminal case was instigated, unless the results of the committee and the autopsy are ready. Apparently the doctor is unaware that the criminal case has already been instigated for implementing responsibilities improperly and the prosecutor general has released the statement.

As it was reported earlier, the baby was delivered with difficulties because of the fault of the chief doctor. The newborn was later moved to Yerevan. However, the baby died there. The difficulties caused danger for the life of the baby. Currently the doctor’s activity is suspended. The Armenian Ministry of Healthcare conducts inspection in Vayk hospital.
