YEREVAN. – Official opening of renovated Ranchpar 1 pumping station was held on Monday at Armenia’s Ararat Region. The pumping station was renovated by the Millennium Challenge Fund (MCF) – Armenia Program, and its opening ceremony brought together Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan and Patrick Fine, Vice President for Compact Operations of the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
Ranchpar 1 pumping station irrigates 6,100 hectares of land, supplying irrigation water to Ararat Region’s 23 communities and 10,000 water users. The MCF-Armenia Program provided $5.5 million US for renovation of the pumping station, Government Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The Program’s total funding provided for the 17 pumping stations set up in Ararat, Armavir, Aragatsotn, Gegharkunik, and Syunik Regions constitutes $42 million. In addition, $19 million were allocated for renovating Ararat Plain’s drainage system, which included a clean-up of 470-km-long drainage collectors. Also along the lines of drainage activities, 50 deep wells were constructed and renovated.
