YEREVAN. – As of Tuesday 1:20 p.m., 23 more rescuers joined the search activities at area of the landslide that occurred in Armenia’s Tavush Region. Thus, a total of 159 rescuers are now working at the site.

Also, another excavator is brought to the area. Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) operative headquarters is still operating on location.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, on Monday at 10:28 a.m., the rescue workers had removed the Mercedes C 220 passenger car of Yerevan residents Armen,38, and Mekhak,47, Sorsumatyan brothers, who were declared missing as a result of the landslide. Bodies of the brothers were discovered in the vehicle.  

And on Tuesday at around 9:30 a.m., the rescue workers removed from the terrain the body of Norik Mirzoyan (Lchkadzor village resident, born in 1939), who was also declared missing.

On October 2, a landslide occurred at Tavush Region’s Vanadzor-Bagratashen section—nearby Ayrum railway station’s bridge and close to Lchkadzor village—of M6 Interstate Highway. The 130-meter-long and 60-meter-deep terrain covered the road, rendering it completely impassable, and average height of terrain covering the road was 10-15 meters. Around 35 vehicles remained under terrain.

So far 26 vehicles are removed from beneath the terrain.

And now these two people remain missing: Arthur Hakobyan (Georgian citizen, born in 1992), and Gurgen Hakobyan (Georgian citizen, born in 1949).
