YEREVAN. – Armenian women become more informed and realize that they have the right to turn to correspondent bodies if subjected to violence, head of the center for women rights Susanna Vardanyan told the journalists on Thursday.
According to her, the center receives 15-20 calls daily. Half of them refer to the family violence. Total of 1,782 calls were registered during nine months of this year. 1,348 referred to family violence, including 481 cases of physical violence, 854 of psychological and 13 of sexual violence.
Vardanyan calls women to break the stereotypes and turn to police. Majority of women subjected to violence are 26-46 years old. Regarding men violence subjected by women, in general, it carries responsive effect. Besides, women awareness has increased compared to last year.
