YEREVAN. - Armenian National Security Council (NSC) Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan on Tuesday met with John Heffern, the newly appointed US Ambassador to Armenia, and informed him about the NSC.

Baghdasaryan also expressed a hope that, during the Ambassador’s tenure, the high level of relations between Armenia and US would be maintained, NSC Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

In his turn, Ambassador Heffern expressed contentment with the reforms being implemented in Armenia, specifically underscoring border security and modernization of border infrastructures.

The Ambassador also appreciated the earthquake relief which Armenia provided to Turkey, considering this a manifestation of good will toward a neighboring country. NSC Secretary stressed there is great potential for regional cooperation, and this could be brought to fruition solely in a peaceful and partnership-based environment. 

John Heffern noted that the United States will persistently continue its efforts toward the region’s stable development and the establishment of partnership-based relations.
