YEREVAN. – Because of several objective reasons, complete guarantee of the competitive environment still remains problematic for Armenia, PM Tigran Sargsyan on Wednesday stated during his meeting with William Kovalchik, an international expert in protection of economic competition.

Kovalchik has provided advice on antitrust measures and protection of consumers’ interests to the governments of Armenia and numerous other countries.

Tigran Sargsyan noted that the Armenian Government is taking all necessary steps to guarantee free and economic competition, Government Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.      

 In his turn, William Kovalchik stressed that he is impressed by Armenia’s antitrust policy and the corresponding legislative reforms being implemented. And according to the international expert, this policy by Armenia’s government is considered one of the best in the international arena.  

PM Sargsyan also encouraged Kovalchik and Artak Shaboyan,  Chairman of Armenian State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, to work toward the aforesaid strategy and coming up with new recommendations, which would contribute to strengthening and developing Armenia’s antitrust policy.
